What happens if you’re interested in learning about everything from what the Star Trek universe looks like to how performance studies works? If, like me, you have major FOMO, the answer is to create multiple blogs to document the journey.

Hi, I’m Sage. 

I’m a 40-something based in Pennsylvania, USA. Sometimes, I wonder if I’m interested in too many things. Case in point: Sage’s Pages is one of five blogs. Is this too many? Absolutely. 

I think what ties my blogs together is a desire to learn. I love learning; I don’t think learning has to end just because I’m an adult who graduated. Does anyone care what I have to say? Probably not, and I’m probably here yelling into the void. But if anything you see here resonates with you, I’m glad you’re here. 

Sage’s Pages

This blog started out with a very different purpose. If you’ve been here before, you may have seen some changes around these parts. 

These days, I’m hoping to periodically use this space to cover more one-off or limited time learning. Maybe I’ll discuss language learning or writing challenges or whatever catches my fancy.

Bookish Bitch

As the title suggests, this is a book blog. I tend to gravitate towards science fiction, fantasy, and horror. That said, I also like to go out of my comfort zone and try new things. It’s not impossible to find a mix of fiction and non-fiction, YA and adult, and genres outside the aforementioned genres. 

The tag line for this blog is “for the love of books not written by cis dudes.” What I believe connects the books discussed here is that they were written by gender expansive authors; authors that I believe have been marginalized based on their gender identity.

Grrrl Fans

Grrrl Fans is a newsletter/blog hybrid that seeks to explore the intersection between pop culture and gender expansive individuals. I want to learn more about the marginalized genders who create the media I enjoy as well as the contributions of marginalized genders in fan communities. 

I plan on using the newsletter mostly as a book club of sorts: as I read a book about a community or creator, I’ll send short Emails with any thoughts or questions that I have.

On the public blog, I’ll share roundups of what I learned.

Onblogway

I’m a theatre mid. Or at least, I see myself as a theatre kid. An area of study that I discovered in the last few years is performance studies, which is an interdisciplinary field that incorporates things like theatre, gender studies, and anthropology. I find this subject interesting and want to learn more. One of the things I discovered is that a lot of texts about the subject can be very dense. 

Like Grrrl Fans, Onblogway is a newsletter/blog hybrid. The newsletter is about me breaking down the performance studies texts I’m reading into more manageable chunks and trying to make sense of what I’m reading. The public blog will be me trying to be more coherent about what I’m learning.
