Introducing Sage’s Pages

Posted on 2 January 202511 April 2025 By Sage Elliott

Welcome to Sage’s Pages, a look into my blogging journey. Hi, I’m Sage Elliott, and I really like starting blogs.

About me

ā€œAbout meā€ sections are always hard for me to write. Despite starting numerous blogs, I don’t really think I’m that interesting. People have commented that I don’t seem to like or want to talk about myself. I guess that’s true. It’s also true that I often feel like if I’m going to talk, I need to say something interesting or profound. The fact of the matter is that I’m pretty boring.

With that said, here is some random facts about me:

  • My pronouns are she/they.
  • I’m in my 40s. I often feel like an ā€œold ladyā€ on the internet.
  • I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, USA.
  • I’m the oldest of three kids.
  • I’m asexual.
  • I’m childfree by choice, but one of my favorite things is being an aunt.
  • I would describe myself as a feminist.
  • I consider myself a lifelong learner. And I recognize that the impetus is on me to seek out the information I’m looking for.
  • Some of my favorite things are reading, theatre / the performing arts, pop culture, and writing.

History

Another thing to know about me is that this is not my first attempt at blogging. This isn’t even my fifth attempt at blogging.

I have started a number of blogs over the years and have always given up for various reasons.

But I always keep coming back. I attribute this to my love of writing and stubborn desire to finally crack the code of how to blog.

I may not be the best blogger, but I’m learning.

Choosing a niche

I feel like I’ve heard different advice about niching down when it comes to your blog.

I’ve heard: ā€œyou need to niche down.ā€ You’ll have an easier time finding an audience if you’re known for one thing, they say. This makes things difficult for people like me. What if you’re multi-passionate?

I’ve also heard: ā€œyou are your niche.ā€ This can feel in contrast with the above advice. But I suppose this means that people will come to you if you let your personality shine through.

All the blogs

So how did I ā€œsolveā€ my niche issue? In the musical Into The Woods, the character of Cinderella sings: ā€œI know what my decision is…Which is not to decide.ā€ I think this best sums up my decision.

As of 2025, I have multiple blogs – including this one. Some have a pretty specific niche. Others I hope to use as a space to let my personality shine through.

Behind the scenes

In 2024, I was diagnosed with some health issues that make me especially tired. This has had an impact on how I’m able to live my life to an extent. I’m sure you’ll be reading about about some of my struggles.

Additionally, a family member was diagnosed with a serious health issue in early 2025 that will require an extended recovery time. I don’t think I’ll be discussing this in great detail; I don’t think they’d appreciate my sharing on the internet and I want to respect their privacy. I just mention it here to let you know that this is a thing that weighs on my mind – and probably will continue to do so for a long time.

That says nothing of the state of US politics, which is also something that I don’t love.

All this to say that I need a distraction. Or, more precisely, I need multiple distractions. I need to feel like I’m doing something.

So these behind the scenes factors played a part in my decision to not only start blogging in 2025 but to start multiple blogs.

Sage’s Pages

The idea for Sage’s Pages came from the fact that I had pretty much decided on having more than one blog.

My initial vision for Sage’s Pages was for it to serve as a portfolio for my online writing. If someone wanted to know about my blogging life, all I would have to do is send them to Sage’s Pages and they’d find links to my other blogs.

But then…

I thought ā€œwhat if I blogged at Sage’s Pages as well?ā€ I could provide some behind the scenes stuff!

Going Forward

The term ā€œlifestyle blogā€ feels kind of nebulous. What does it even mean? If you want to give me your definition in the comments, please do.

Perhaps Sage’s Pages fits the bill. I plan on using this space to write about my experience balancing multiple blogs, while also providing commentary on what I’m doing to keep myself sane in a world that feels like it’s falling apart.

I don’t know if anyone cares about what I have to say.

But the thing about me is that I’m going to try.

Maybe you can relate to my struggles and learn from them.

Content

I’m planning on posting on Sage’s Pages every Thursday around noon EST.
