SMART Goal Example: Blog Content Edition Posted on 23 January 202528 February 2025 By Sage Elliott In doing some research on how to set goals, I came across the concept of SMART goals. The purpose of this post is to provide a space for me to better understand goal setting in general and SMART goals in particular. I do well with examples, so thought I’d apply the principle to my blogging goals for 2025. To be completely transparent, I’m not 100% sure that I have this completely correct. However, examples help me better understand a concept. So I thought I’d try plugging my own example into my understanding of SMART goals and seeing if I can make it work. Maybe this SMART goal example can help you understand SMART goals? I hope you find some value in this. What are SMART goals, you ask? SMART is an acronym for “specific,” “measurable,” “attainable,” “relevant,” and “time-bound.” There are already good explanations elsewhere. I don’t think I can explain it any better. There are statistics out there that suggest that setting reasonable goals is beneficial. For example, those who set ambitions but specific goals are 90% more likely to achieve them. All that said, let’s try setting a SMART goal for 2025. Table of Contents Toggle Lack of blog contentSMART goal example: all the blogsSpecificMeasurableAttainableRelevantTime-BoundSMART goal Lack of blog content There is a severe lack of blog content on all my blogs. As of the beginning of 2025, Sage’s Pages and She Treks had zero posts. Bookish Bitch had a whopping three. I believe that before I can do anything else, whether that be aggressively promote my blogs or monetize them, I need to create content. Most importantly, I should be creating content that helps drive traffic. SMART goal example: all the blogs Specific I want to create more blog content for each of my blogs in 2025. To that end, I will publish one blog article per week on each blog over the course of the year. Measurable By the end of 2025, I should have published a total of 156 blog posts – 52 on Bookish Bitch, 52 on Sage’s Pages, and 52 on She Treks. Attainable I already have drafts of some posts written and scheduled. I have a tentative plan for getting the rest done. Relevant By creating more content, I should increase traffic to my blogs. This should make it possible to do things like monetize / create additional income streams in the future. Time-Bound End of 2025. SMART goal In order to have more content on my blogs by the end of 2025, I will publish a total of 156 blog posts across three blogs. 52 posts for Bookish Bitch, 52 posts for Sage’s Pages, and 52 for She Treks. Let’s keep each other accountable.
